14 Months

Yesterday Little Cubby turned 14 months old. I forgot to post something so here it is today.

Little Cubby you are 14 months old. Where do I begin?

After wondering how long you might wait to walk—being so proficient at crawling—You have taken off walking and in one month you are a pro. You can turn and change directions instantly and while you still fall now and then, it happens mainly you’re walking and not paying attention to walking.

You love music and will start to move with music whether sitting down or standing, doing a little dance. You, like your brother, enjoys car commercials for the loud music, fast movement and bright colors.

You eat books. You only recently learned to open the pages and look at the pictures.

You do this wonderful surprised look at every little thing where you open your eyes quite big and say “oooooooooooooohhhh.”

You love to take the TV remote and see your handy work by moving channels or turning off the TV altogether.

We have given you some of our food—a bit of burger or pieces of other things now and then—and now you are very interested in what we are eating at all times. You love bananas and crackers.

You are learning to gesture at things you want, but you do this the same way you say hi or bye, with an extended arm and a rapidly open and closed fist. Your grunting is taking on more of a communicative tone and you are starting to sound out vowels and other sounds.

Generally you are good natured, but when you’re mad you let us know. Loudly.

You are also strong. Stronger at this age then what your brother was. In fact, you might be stronger at 14 months than your 4-year-old brother.
You can repeatedly squat down parallel to the ground and then stand back up as if doing exercise squats.

You do not like your diaper changed nor to get dressed or undressed. Though you like to walk around naked.

You love chocolate milk. You won’t drink much else.

You like playing with your older brother, to a point. You have become frustrated enough with him that you taken a swing at him. Should prove to be interesting in another year.

We love you Little Cubby!
